The Aloha Room was added to the old Heathman Hotel after it was taken over by Paul Haviland in 1961; the city closed the hotel in the late 1970s due to building and fire code violations. A postcard from the time reads:
"The Heathman Hotels welcome you to the Aloha Room, one of Portland's truly outstanding Dining Lounges. The refreshingly exotic island decor reminiscent of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, plus the exciting native and American food and refreshments makes a visit to the Aloha Room a must. The Aloha Room is truly the delight of the most exacting gourmet." Item #56990
