TWO lithographs with handcolor, each approx 7 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches on sheets 9 1/4 x 12 1/4 and 12 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches. Light edgwear and toning to edges, small chips to three corners of Rhinoceros print, archival tape to right edge of verso from hinging; overall very good condition; bright and attractive. Two sensitive zoological prints from the late 19th century. The Rhinoceros Sumatrensis (black rhino from Sumatra) is from P.L. Sclater's "On the Rhinoceroses Now or Lately Living in the Society's Menagerie", published in the Transactions of the Zoological Society of London circa 1876 (Vol. 9, Plate XCVII). The lithograph is by Josef Smit from a drawing by Josef Wolf. The Rhinopithecus Bieti (black snub-nosed monkey) was drawn and lithographed by Adolphe Millot for Nouvelles Archives du Museum d'histoire naturelle (3rd Series, Vol. X, Plate 9) circa 1898.
