Engraving with handcolor on laid paper, plate mark 16 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches on sheet 20 1/4 x 14 inches. Binding holes along left edge, multiple tears up to 1/2 inch (well outside image area), occasional spots of foxing, light 1/4 inch stain at right edge of plate mark, remains of tape to top edge of verso where print was affixed to something (not visible from front); overall very good condition. A lovely image of a wood pigeon from the Dutch work "Nederlandsche Vogelen", or "Dutch Birds", which catalogued the entire avifauna of the country. The work was published in installments between 1770 and 1829 with multiple contributors. The Latin text below the bird reads: Ex Musco Viri Doctissimi et Experiientissimi Jacobi Christophori KLOCKNER, Medicina Doctoris Amsteloedami. Item #56587
