COMPLETE SET OF FIFTEEN PLATES with titled tissue guards and accompanying text and black and white engravings, in five parts with decorative paper wrappers; these contained in a 17 1/4 x 13 1/4 inch color decorative paper-covered portfolio with cloth spine. Cloth spine of portfolio is split at upper (3 inch) and lower (1 inch) edges, cloth is coming loose from front cover, dampstaining and soiling to covers. Spines split on paper wrappers of individual parts, toning to paper, foxing to outer margin of two plates, otherwise plates are in good condition; frequent creasing to the tissue guards. Portfolio of prints accompanied by conversational text about the illustrators. The text accompanying the portfolios is present: At the Century (Part 1); A Night at the Tile Club (Part 2); A Mug of Beer at Oscar’s (Part 3); Notes from a Divan (Part 4); Black and Whites at the Academy (Part 5). The ten tissue-guarded plates (in color and in black and white) as noted in the List of Plates are by Edwin Abbey, C.C. Reinhart, Howard Pyle, A.B. Frost, Frederic Remington, W.T. Smedley, Charles Dana Gibson, F.S. Church, Will H. Low, Robert Blum, Winslow Homer The Rower), Kenyon Cox, W.L. Metcalf, R.F. Zogbaum and Elbridge Kingsley.
