World's Fair number of The Youth's Companion, illustrated in black and white in pictorial color lithograph covers, iv + 32 pages, 16 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches, staple binding. Fair condition: light soiling to covers, long splits to spine, soft horizontal crease to magazine from being folded in half, light waterstaining to interior, multiple edge tears up to 1 1/2 inches. Sold as is. Despite faults, an interesting reading copy of the magazine with many attractive images. The color cover shows the Administration Building of the Columbian Exposition in Chicago, while the back cover reproduces Perrault's painting "The Awakening", which was shown at the fair. The interior illustrations depict various grand buildings and features including the Electrical Fountain, the Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building, the Horticultural Building, and more. The text provides descriptive and practical information about the fair. Includes period advertising for companies such as Pearline Soap. Item #56519
