Single issue of the magazine which was previously bound, color pictorial covers and one color advertisement, black and white illustrations throughout, pagination 419-453, 11 x 9 inches. Binding holes to spine, covers detached, center block of pages detached (but all present), slight crease to top right corner of front cover and first few pages; very good condition overall, clean and bright. This is the original version of the social commentary and entertainment magazine Life, not the news photo magazine first issued in November 1936. Much of interest including double page cartoon "The Wild East" by Robert Wildhack poking fun at the rough edges of New York life. Advertisements include Fiat and Packard motor cars, as well as a color ad by Frank X. Leyendecker for Vogue magazine. The color cover "Roughing it on Broadway" by James Montgomery Flagg, creator of the famous Uncle Sam poster from World War I, shows a man and woman at dinner with their gender roles reversed.
