8 color plates plus black and white in-text illustrations, 126 pages, 9 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches, color pictorial paper covered boards (hardbound). General wear and light soiling to covers, spine joints cracked (interior hinges in good condition), ink inscription to front free endpaper, a few brown stains to fore edge of textblock extending up to 3/8 inch into sheets, dampstaining to top of book not visible on pages. Sold as is; binding is tight and images remain attractive. Many children's rhymes compiled by Rose Allyn, featuring the usual cast of characters: Bo Peep, Jack Horner, Contrary Mary, and so on. The color plates are signed by C. M. Burd while the black and white illustrations are by Violet Moore Higgins. Clara M. Burd was a stained glass designer who also illustrated children's books during the Golden Age of illustration. Item #56253
