Rodin, Auguste (artist).
London and New York. Charles Scribner's Sons. Boussod, Valadon & Co., 1889.
Three-quarter leather heavy volume, marbled edges, black and white plates with tissue guards throughout, a few color images, 360 numbered pages, 13 x 10 1/2 inches, 3/4 leather binding. Front exterior hinge is starting to crack, but otherwise the volume is tight, little wear to corners, very clean interior. Very heavy volume which may require extra postage. An imposing elegantly produced and illustrated publication covering various topics in the areas of literature and fine arts. Of particular interest is a lengthy article on the French sculptor August Rodin, with an exquisitely printed portrait after Rodin of Victor Hugo. Other articles include "Our Sporting Women" with watercolor-like images inset into the text, an article on the Italian Army and an article on Jacob Maris The Painter. Item #56156
