Japanese book with stab binding, illustrated with a two page full color woodblock map of the world and three black and white city maps; 7 1/4 x 5 inches (18 x 13 cm). Wear to covers and title label, break in the string binding, tiny insect holes which affect the first several pages but which are not noticeable. A description of the calendar, directions, and the regions, and fortunes in Japan. Colour world map, and partial page maps of Japan, Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo) included. Listed in OCLC in three libraries: Peabody Essex Museum; University of Manchester Library; National Library of Australia. A very interesting view of the world is presented in the two page color world map in this publication which predates the arrival in 1853 of the US expedition lead by Commodore Perry. Item #56121
