General light wear and darkening to cover edges and spines, lightly bumped corners, soiling to lower edge of front cover of Volume I, hinges cracked but still tight, dampstaining to bottom edge of last 16 sheets of Volume II (not affecting images), scattered foxing affecting several of the steel engravings; still a handsome set in good condition overall. Very heavy set which may incur extra postage. A sumptuous production describing the scenery and cities of America; a British version of the edition originally published in the United States. Contains 25 steel-engraved plates and many more in-text and full-page woodcuts. Places depicted "on steel" include San Francisco, Yosemite Valley, Detroit, New Orleans, Mount Hood (with light foxing), Florida, and more. Item #56060
