U.S. Coast Survey. San Francisco Peninsula. 3055

U.S. Coast Survey. 1869.
Black and white engraved map, 27 1/2 x 17 5/8 inches on sheet size 29 x 28 3/4 inches. Faint foxing and a few light marks mostly in outer margins, light toning at lower right, soft creases from rolling. Good condition. This is the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey early reprint of the map which was first published in 1869 as plate #14 in the Report of the Superintendent of the United States Coast Survey, this issue being printed from the copperplates on thick paper, with the note "No. 3055. Price 50 cents" above the map at upper left and "U.S.C. & G.S. 3055" printed at lower right edge. Research has not identified a specific printing timeline for this particular printing, but likely in the last two decades of the 19th century or 1900s. Fine detail; a handsome map. Item #55903
