Booklet, color pictorial covers, illustrated with black and white photographs, 79 pages, 10 x 7 3/4 inches, staple binding with paper wrappers. Accompanied by two brochures (approx 9 x 3 3/4 inches) advertising local attractions, presented by USO Seoul. 2 1/4 inch tear along left edge of front cover, light wear to cover extremities; otherwise very good clean condition. The guide was issued to incoming U.S. military and civilian personnel. It includes information about the U.S. military structure in Korea, local culture, the history of the country, and the geography and climate. The summary at the back declares that "The Mission of the United Nations Command simply stated is to stop the Communists if they come across the DMZ." The two booklets contain information on events, activities and resources. Both are issued compliments of Northwest Orient airline (one referencing the 747 airplane which was introduced in 1969). On the back of one of the booklets is an advertisement for the "Lowest Military fares ever to the U.S.A.", with prices of $350 and up. Item #55819
