Wenatchee, Washington. Skookum Packers Association. Circa 1960?s.
Coloring book 10 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches, 16 pages, featuring Skookum--"a little Columbia River Indian boy," whose name means "the best." Skookum has a fondness for the outdoors, but his greatest interest is the "shiny red and golden apples" of the region. He becomes an entrepreneur, picking, packing, and shipping the apples. On the final page we are told "he works hard." Interior of front and rear covers provide maps of the region, with Wenatchee centrally located. Book in very good clean condition. Held in two Washington State libraries - an uncommon item. A very interesting booklet advertising one of the state's resources using the native population in a stereotypical fashion. Item #55774
