Three motion picture "fan" magazines (1922, 1923, & 1926) containing between 92 & 98 pages each with striking color covers of film stars. Issue of January 1922 features Ruth Roland on the cover (which has tears and creases at free edge and spine). Numerous articles (including coverage of stage productions) with black and white photos featuring silent film stars and stars of the legitimate stage. Film stars include Pearl White, Corinne Griffith, Harold Lloyd, Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks, Clara Bow, Cecil B. De Mille, and many others. Issue of January 1923 lacks front cover but is accompanied by a color cover from May 1923 featuring Thomas Meighan. Articles in the January number feature stars including Nita Nalda, Ethel Barrymore, Mabel Normand, Jackie Coogan, Wallace Reid, Bebe Daniels, Ruth Roland, Mary Miles Minter, and many others. Issue of January 1926 features a color portrait of John Gilbert on the front cover. Featured players include full page black and white photos including Marion Davies, Constant Bennett, and Vilma Banky. Also an article, "President Coolidge Goes to the Movies" stressing the President's interest in "The Covered Wagon" type film. A photo-illustrated feature gives focus to the chariot race in "Ben Hur," while a piece titled "They Control Your Films" provides photos and brief texts pertaining to Studio Magnates: Marcus Loew, Adolph Zukor, Jesse L. Laskey, Carl Laemmle, and four others. Full-page ads tout Ramon Novarro in the MGM film "The Midshipman," while another full-page ad features Mary Pickford (mouth agape) in "Scraps." This last magazine is in the best condition, overall, of the three. The trio provide an interesting profile of pre-sound popular films and their stars. Item #55771
