Color map, 21 x 33 inches on sheet size 22 1/4 x 33 3/4 inches, folding as issued to 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Left margin of map has been cut to neatline; overall excellent condition; hardly seems to have been opened. The precisely delineated map shows the United States with rivers, railroads, military stations and major towns marked in black and white. Indian reservations are clearly marked with orange. At the time, Sioux territory in the Dakota region included several "proposed" reservations, including Rosebud and Pine Ridge. The map was compiled "from official and other authentic sources, under the direction of the Hon. JNO. H. Oberly, Commissioner of Indian Affairs" Item #55623
