Tehran. Iran Geographic & Cartographic Co. Ltd., Circa late 1960s.
First Edition. Twin color maps on sheet 23 1/2 x 35 inches (including covers) folding as issued to 8 x 4 1/2 inches; maps themselves measure 23 1/2 x 30 3/4 inches. On one side, map with text in English; on verso, twin map with text in Persian. Each map features inset traffic maps of Tehran, Esfahan, Shiraz, and Mashhad in the corresponding languages indicated above. Map depicts Iran's borders with Pakistan, Afghanistan, U.S.S.R., Turkey and Iraq. Legend indicates bold red lines show paved roads; narrower red lines gravel roads; broken red lines dirt roads. Rail lines and airports are also indicated on the maps. Also depicted is the Neutral Zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf, officially divided between the two in 1970. The map evidently predates this recorded division, hence a presumed late 1960s publication date. Overall good clean condition; small breaks at some folds. WorldCat suggests between one and three library holdings for this dual language map. An uncommon item. Item #55351
