Brussels. Belgian National Tourist Office. No date. 1950s?
Folded brochure 8 1/4 x 4 inches unfolding to a sheet 16 1/2 x 28 1/2 inches featuring descriptive text and fourteen color views of various cultural and recreational features of the region. On verso is a color map of the region 20 1/4 x 16 1/2 inches depicting main roads, towns, railways, rivers, etc. A smaller map depicts central Brugge (Bruges)and various tourist and cultural sites. Multiple pinhole separations to fold intersections; overall very good clean condition. Evidently no WorldCat listing for this item. Covers of folded brochure feature a costumed court jester holding a tasseled scepter, or marotte, in one hand and, in the other, by the tail, a black cat. The connection of this image to tourism in West Vlaanderen is unsettling. Item #55342
