Volume I with 664 pages and 15 color lithographic Prang illustrations (plus innumerable full page black and white illustrations); Volume III with 454 pp. and 12 color lithographic illustrations printed by master chromolithographic printmaker Louis Prang, (again, with innumerable full page black and white illustrations). Missing is Volume II with 15 lithographic illustrations by Prang. Each volume in excellent clean condition, with tissue guards for each of the color plates. Color plates in Volume I center on Mammalia: Apes, Bears, Lions, Deer, Dogs, etc. while Volume III color plates focus on Reptiles, Fishes, Mollusks, Insects, etc. Binding of each volume is in excellent clean condition, with minor dings to top or bottom of spine or half leather binding on front or rear covers. Two remarkably fresh volumes, firmly bound, clean and bright. Highly presentable after more than 130 years. Item #55238
