Set of six volumes bound as three, with 38 (of 39, not present: South Australia) double page engraved maps with outline handcolor. The set itself has condition issues but the maps present as clean and bright (one has light staining on the verso, scarcely visible on the front of the map). The map of the Western Hemisphere is sewn in (3 binding holes) with the following text section, in what appears to have been a fix. Uniform light toning to maps (most noticeable in the first volume), occasional spotting, but overall good to very good condition. There is waterstaining to the steel engraved portrait plates and to the title page of volume 1 but not to the rest of the volume (it appears that the volume was assembled with the plates already stained).1 inch square of paper loss to lower corner of Victoria engraving and facing page. Third volume: front board and first pages water damaged with loss to cloth and deterioration to front board, some waterstaining to portrait plates, but maps not affected. SOLD as a COLLECTION OF MAPS.
