Color pictorial / pictographic map, sheet 16 1/4 x 22 3/4 inches, folding into card folder, 8 1/2 x 5 inches. 13 numbered descriptive text pages plus 5 unnumbered advertising pages, KLM advertisement on verso. Light creasing in lower left margin and where map is attached to card, 1/2 inch tear to top left margin; overall very good condition. A handsome map with a decorative knot border, designed by engineer Spyridon Spiro. The plan is out of scale and shows detailed depictions of key buildings on major thoroughfares in sepia ink. Jerusalem's first, second and third walls are overlaid in red, green and blue, while the 1948 Armistice Lines are represented by stylized barbed wire. Different political zones are labelled: Jewish controlled territory, Arab controlled territory, U.N. territory, No Man's Land, etc. Original map copyright 1945; this 3rd edition is dated 1953 under the map image.
