Two leather bound volumes, 72 black and white plates (lithotints) with tissue guards, in text black and white wood engravings, 13 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches, elaborate embossed gilt decorative leather bound boards. The volumes have been recased with original gilt decorative boards and spine; both volumes have new endpapers. Title page of both volumes have some insect damage at right edge and scattered foxing; a diagonal crease to title page and first text page; light stain to tip of upper right edge of first few pages; light scattered foxing to some plates; small crease to Haddon Hall Long Gallery print; small spot in upper margin of two plates in volume II (Holland House and Ingestrie Hall). Good, tight condition. A handsome set with bright gilt decorative leather binding. Particularly handsome illustrations using the lithotint process developed by Hullmandel, often used to great effect in the contrast of light and shade on the edifices. A collection of beautiful views celebrating the architecture and interior design of country estates across England with extensive text and small black and white illustrations describing interior and exterior features.
