No. 2, Vol. III. Disbound essay ("Translated from the French"), 8 x 5 1/4 inches, from Phillips and Company's multi-volume "Voyages and Travels." Six-page Preface followed by 128 pages of text and three full-page engravings. In addition, a full-page engraving titled "Diai-Boukari in the Costume of a Marabout of Foutaloro" follows the title page. Text and illustrations in good clean condition with light time-toning to three engravings at rear. Folded map at rear opening to sheet 16 x 17 inches titled "Chart of the Travels of G. Mollien to the Sources of the Senegal and Gambia" dated 1820. Map has 2 1/2 inch ancient tape "repair" along fold at top of map, plus short separations at several folds; however, while in clean condition overall, professional removal of tape required.
