Booklet, 8 x 5 ½ inches, 16pp., providing history, photos, and descriptive text pertaining to the ruins in the ancient city of Baalbeck, once a famed religious center and resting place for caravans. At rear of booklet is a folded map, unfolding to a sheet 15 ½ x 22 ½ inches, with numerical index to identify pertinent sites. Booklet shows signs of wear; map is in excellent clean condition. A poem, "Lamontagne Inspirée" by Charles Corm is featured in the booklet. Corm was a major figure in the movement that led to the independence of Lebanon in 1943 and the withdrawal of French troops from the country in 1946.
