Interior in overall good clean condition, with occasional light foxing or spotting. Features include various Sketches in China, with emphasis on Canton. Also English-Chinese Treaty Signing, Deadly Consequences of Opium Smoking, and a stunning two page map of China. Illustrated articles also focus on Lahore, Aqua, and Rangoon. Recurring coverage provided regarding N.E. Canada (New Brunswick, Red River Expedition, etc.) Illustrated articles also on the Atlantic Telegraph Cable, the Earl of Elgin’s Visit to Japan, also 2 pp. illustration titled “View of the Great Eastern as it will Appear at Sea.” Domestic features include Hop Picking, the Royal Italian Opera, Poultry Exhibitions, Cattle Exhibitions, and extensive coverage of the Queen.
