Booklet, paper wrappers, 4 x 9 3/4 inches opening to sheets 9 1/2 x 8 inches, 23 numbered sheets. Double page full color centrefold pictorial map, black and white photo images throughout. Pictorial map in very good condition with three vertical folds as issued; 1/2 by 1 inch paper loss to upper corner of back cover; repaired tear to upper front cover, with general wear and creasing to covers; interior in good condition with a couple of short tears. An uncommon publication apparently produced for the California-Pacific International Exposition in 1935 by The Great Circle Tour Association "composed of a group of Chambers of Commerce, hotels and resorts located in the six great counties of Southern California..." Individual pages list a motor tour ("Los Angeles to Palm Springs Via San Bernadino", "Los Angeles to San Diego (Coast Route)" etc.) with mileage, places to see, hotels and restaurants. The attractive centrefold pictorial map by W.T. Calkins (copyright 1934) marks routes and some of the scenic highlights. There is a color advertisement for the Panama Pacific Line on the back cover and an advertisement for Young's Market Company on the rear cover. The David Rumsey Collection includes another map by Calkins, but we have found no record of this booklet listed in WorldCat. Item #54416
