Full color folding map with fabric backing, stiff card covers 8 ½ x 5 inches, with map unfolding to 16 x 33 ½ inches. Text states "Specially prepared for the Bank of West Africa Limited." Map is copyright Edward Stanford Ltd. and printed by George Philip & Son (London). In 1957 the Bank of British West Africa officially changed its name to the Bank of West Africa in an effort to distance itself from its Colonial heritage and to acknowledge emerging West African states. Quite likely the map was issued to advance this newly-adopted identity. Stiff card covers have coin-size circular areas of toning. Map itself in very good clean condition; an uncommon item.
