No date. Ca. 1899.
Three color lithographic thin card sheets each approximately 6 x 16 1/2 inches, printed in color on both sides. It appears they were at one time attached at the left edge, and two of them still are attached there. Many chips to the edges but the images are intact; the loose card sheet has a diagonal 3 inch tear to the upper edge, some light discoloration at the right edge and some offset from another print. The advertisements are printed as follows, back to back: Steve Tobins Horseshoe New York/ The Eldredge, The Belvidere National Sewing Machine Company Belvidere, Ill.; A Pictorial Description of Broadway by the Mail & Express 1899 / Not a Horse Slipped The Battle of San Juan Hill, Steve Tobin's Rubber-Cushioned Horseshoes; Steve Tobin' Eldredge... The Eldredge/Belvidere ad features a woman smartly dressed to ride, and highlights the unlikely manufacturer (National Sewing Machine Company) with the slogan "We Make Wheels Too." An interesting collection of manufacturing advertising from the turn of the 19th century. Item #54325
