Double page woodengraving in unbound complete issue of Harper's Weekly magazine of 18 October 1879, sheet size 16 1/2 x 23 inches. Four teeny pinholes along centrefold, light wear and short tears to margin (no tears closer than 3/4 inches from image), image in very good condition. Handsome view of women and men taking part in an archery meeting, with tennis players in the background. There are two Thomas Nast political cartoons: the front cover titled "Death at the Polls, and free from 'Federal Interference.'" showing a skeletal figure with rifle "Solid Southern Shot Gun" with boot on a box marked 'suffrage.' This front page is irregularly toned, with some sections having been exposed over time and others not. The other full page Nast cartoon is a Tammany Hall subject "Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori." Item #54202
