NIBLO'S THEATRE NEW York CITY)
Boston. Maturin Murray Ballou. 02-24- 1855.
Weekly newspaper, 15 x 10 ¼ inches, p 113 to p 128. Featured on the first page is a wood block engraving of the stage at Niblo's Theatre, New York City, as seen from the back of the stalls (ground floor seating). The image clearly conveys the huge size of the theatre and the spectacular nature of the scenery employed. The orchestra can be seen positioned just in front of, but at a lower level than, the stage. The article concludes with the following: "Like all Mr. Niblo's undertakings, this new and gorgeous theatre has been eminently successful." An attractive complete issue in very good condition. Also included in this issue is a double page article with 5 illustrations focusing on Wilmington, North Carolina. (One illustration marred with brown streaking.) An uncommon vintage offering.
