Balieff's Chauve-Souris of Moscow.

Soudeikine (cover illus).
New York. The Dancey-Davis Press. No date. Ca. 1923.
32 pp. black and white and color-illustrated program (sets by Serge Sudeikine and others) for Balieff’s Chauve-Souris of Moscow ("The Bat" Theatre of Moscow), a touring review that performed extensively in Europe and, as this program announces, was celebrating their return to America after their initial and very successful 1922 New York City debut. Numerous illustrations of the company’s sets, costumes, and personnel, including the show’s producers (M. Gest and R. Comstock). Very small scuffed area to program’s first page, also very small circular indentation at bottom of this and following two pages (no paper loss). Light spotting and ¾ inch tear bottom edge of rear cover. Contents bright and clean. Especially noteworthy is the two page centerfold Ralph Barton cartoon illustration (detached from staple binding) of an imagined Chauve-Souris audience featuring well over 100 cartooned images of famous persons, the majority in some way connected with the stage.
