Driftwood. SHEET MUSIC - MUSICAL LAMENT, Chas. Earl Cady.

Laramie, Wyoming. Star Publishing Co., 1913.
Sheet music, approx. 14 x 10 3/4 inches, 6 pp., color lithographic front cover, unfolding the sorry tale of a homeless drifter. An uncommon item published by the Star Publishing Co. of Laramie, Wyoming, and dated 1913. Other compositions by Cady listed on the front cover include "Mother's Still Waiting for You." Eight inch separation along spine edge of front cover; crease at bottom; very short tear at free edge; otherwise good clean condition, no taped repairs, etc. The chorus begins "For I shall drift, drift, drift like the wood that drifts along, That's the melody of my song" and continues in a similar vein: "No one to know and no one to care" followed by "the rest of my life is nothin' to you" lapsing, at close, into incomprehensibility. Would not make a suitable gift for a music lover or someone afflicted with melancholia. Item #54050
