Brochure, unfolding to detailed map titled "Rail and Motor Coach Lines of the Pacific Electric Railway" on sheet 20 x 32 inches. Legend features four distinct linear graphics representing "Rail Lines-Passenger and Freight"; "Rail Lines-Passenger Only"; "Rail Lines-Freight Only"; "Motor Coach Lines." The system, flowing from central Los Angeles, extends as far east as San Bernardino and Redlands, as far south as Newport Bay and north to San Fernando. An inset map shows routes (chiefly bus but some rail passenger and freight service) in downtown Los Angeles, while a smaller map depicts Santa Catalina Island. Verso of map provides "Travel Tips," "Points of Interest" details, "Station and Time Table Information," a map of "San Bernardino Mountain Resort Area," and an Index. Map is dated January 1952. Illustrations that comprise the front and rear of the brochure are signed by artist Frederic Eddy. A most interesting and detailed map that is dated one year after the formation of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority and with this entity, the ensuing transformation of public transportation in the city, with an emphasis on freeways.
