Tunis, Tunisia. Office Tunisien du Tourisme. 1952.
English language travel booklet, stiff paper covers, 8 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches, 62 pp. plus, loose insert: 12 pp pamphlet dated June 1955 titled "Tarifs des Transports - Hotels - Guides" detailing rates for hotels, restaurants, transport, etc. (in French). The 62 pp travel booklet has tabs to allow quick reference to various topical sections: these include How to Reach Tunisia; Formalities (customs, exchange rates, etc.); Travel (car, public conveyance, etc.); Tourism (manners and customs, food and dress, museums, festivals, monuments and sites; etc.); Hotels and Restaurants; and last, Some Touristic Tours. Excellent clean condition. An uncommon mid-century tourist guide, with a useful listing of "what not to do" as a tourist in Tunisia. Recommended dress presumes the well-heeled traveller: for men and women: overcoats, furs etc. in winter while in summer men should wear "white linen suits or shorts with stockings"; however, it is stressed that "ladies should not wear shorts." In sum, always appear smartly dressed and remember: "It is especially unbecoming to stand at the doors of sanctuaries and try to peer inside." No WorldCat listing found for this item. Item #53666
