Full page color pictorial map of Australia in the Summer 1966 issue of "The Lamp" magazine, 11 3/4 x 9 inches, 24pp. Light wear to covers, mailing label to back cover, map in fine condition. A richly colored decorative map of Australia by illustrator Antonio Petrucelli (1907-1994) perhaps best known for his magazine cover illustrations for upscale magazines such as Fortune, The New Yorker, Collier's, and House Beautiful. His work in Fortune showed the breadth of his talents including charts, cartoons and maps. The single page map in this uncommon magazine is an excellent example of his work: a conventional mapping of the continent is surrounded by detailed illustrations of the diverse and exotic flora and fauna of the region. The accompanying article by Hayes B. Jacob highlights the "Rich natural resources, so far barely tapped, and a distinctive, independent way of life..." Item #53643
