Philadelphia. Pennsylvania Railroad Co., 1907.
Staple-bound volume in paper wraps; 9 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches; 308 numbered pages. Photo illustrated. Of particular interest is the three-color map folded into the rear cover showing a bird's eye view of the New Jersey shore and inland from New York City at upper right to Rehoboth at lower left. The railroad's extent is indicated by the network of red lines. The text provides descriptive information on travel destinations chiefly on the east coast and Canada accessible through a variety of rail carriers. Destinations are listed alphabetically at the front of the book, as are two pages of participating rail lines. Discursive text, organized alphabetically, often accompanied by photos, provides information relating to various summer resorts or more general travel destinations, along with a listing of hotels, number of guests that can be accommodated, etc. Mild discoloration and spotting to covers, 1 inch splits to tail of spine, soft vertical crease to front cover; interior in very good clean condition. The coverage is astonishing in its breadth; multiple carriers most often involved. The hard work involved in vacationing (getting there and back) is everywhere evident. An uncommon item; no WorldCat listing found. Item #53532
