4th Edition. A most interesting tourist booklet; 8 x 5 inches; 42 numbered pages and one page at rear listing additional Boston and Maine tourist brochures. Four maps; three in color. First map is a black and white frontispiece "Birds eye View of the Boston and Maine Railroad and Connections." Three additional maps in color: 1) Tourist Map of the Boston and Maine Railroad (14 3/4 x 21 3/4 inches) depicting lines in New England and Eastern Canada. Hot air balloon at upper right establishing the map's bird's-eye view perspective. 1/2 inch tear top margin. 2) Boston and Maine Railroad Passumpsic Division (16 1/2 x 8). 3) St. Johnsbury and Lake Champlain Railroad Connections (10 x 14 3/4 inches.) 3/4 inch tear in upper right margin. Apart from issues noted these maps are in excellent clean condition, as is the booklet itself. An attractive and uncommon item. The author, Moses Foster Sweetser, is known for copious travel-related writing of the late 19th century. Uncommon; WorldCat lists only four libraries holding this edition. Item #53519
