Color pictorial map, single sheet from the Chicago Daily Tribune, archivally mounted to linen backing, newspaper sheet 17 x 23 1/2 inches. Very good condition, light toning to horizontal fold. "This is a new map of Singapore Island, now being besieged by the Japanese...North of the Island is the Strait of Johore...where Japanese troops have massed after battling their way down thru the jungles of the Malay peninsula...Until the war made it necessary to discontinue service, Singapore was the journey's end for the Pan-American Clipper planes." The map was published just a few days before Singapore fell to the Japanese on 15 February 1942. Item #53381
