This is a detailed color chart for aircraft navigation published by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in September 1942. It is marked "RESTRICTED". Map sheet size 24 x 48 inches, multiple folds. Creases to upper left corner and mid left edge, rusted paperclip marks to left edge, short tear to lower left edge; good condition. The map has a legend which shows the chart numbers of different areas of the globe and describes the symbols used on the maps. These symbols include air navigation hazards, radio facilities, geographical and 'cultural' features (including railroads, bridges, cities etc). This map includes the area of Dallas and Fort Worth. There are areas marked "Danger Area" and "Caution Area". A fascinating aviation map, recording a wide range of information important to the pilot, including elevation of the land formations, reflecting WW II realities. Item #52226
