The second edition of British jurist and explorer Thomas Falconer's commentary on the British position regarding the ownership of the Oregon Territory. In the Preface to this edition Falconer lays out further examples of (incorrect) reasoning by the American commentators on this question, and expresses the hope that "In showing the source of the errors which prevail in America, and what the strict rights of the British government are, I have been desirous to exhibit the moderation of the British government and the sincerity of its attempts to bring the dispute to a peaceful issue."
