Tallahassee, FL. Florida State Advertising Commission. No date. Ca. 1946.
Booklet, 9 x 6 inches, 32 pp, paper covers, photo illustrated. Pictorial map of Florida on front cover depicts a variety of recreational activities while a comparably-sized pictorial map on the booklet's first page features images of agriculture and industry. Verso of front cover features "A Message from Florida" from Governor Millard F. Caldwell who declares "THIS IS FLORIDA -- where one pleasure-filled day follows another." A headline on page 2 of the booklet makes clear the booklet's agenda: "Florida is the ideal place to live." The pages that follow tout the state's agriculture, industry, climate, tax laws, and recreational opportunities, concluding with the observation that Florida is the "year 'round playground for the nation." On verso of rear cover text states "we hope that you have found in these pages enough information to inspire you to want to gain a personal acquaintance with Florida, with the thought of some day coming to live in The Sunshine State." Many heeded the Governor's call, with the state's population increasing 10 fold in the years following WW II. The booklet--a time capsule--is in very good clean condition. Item #51845
