Form & Farbe im Flächenschmuck.

Rochga, Rud. and Paul Haustein (illus).
Stuttgart. Julius Hoffman. No date. 1903.
13 ONLY (of 24) color lithograph plates, sheets 18 x 13 inches, cloth covered thin boards (hardbound). Covers moderately soiled; the plates are in excellent condition with light spots to a few outer margins. AS IS. This is a gathering of 13 of the plates from the collection Form & Farbe im Flachenschmuck, originally published in a portfolio but here bound into a serviceable cloth binding; paint marks on the cover suggest that it was actually used in an artist's studio. A paper label for the bookstore Ludvig Schuth of Kobenhavn has been glued over the what was likely the original publisher's name. Each plate features a number of stunning Art Nouveau wall covering designs by artists Rudolph Rochga and Paul Haustein. While the visual motif is overwhelmingly Art Nouveau, a number of the panels hint at the Deco stylistics to emerge in upcoming decades. WorldCat lists six holdings, two in the United States and four in Germany. Item #51580
