Tokyo Taisho Hakurankai Kinen Shashincho Hakkokai. 東京大正博覧会記念写真帖発行会. Taisho 3 [ 1914].
Black and white photo illustrations throughout most with tissue guards, approx. 156 pages, 9 3/4 x 13 3/4 inches, gold cloth covered boards with title label and string ties. Covers have split at the bound edge but the contents are secure; wear to cover edges where the silk is fraying, contents in very good condition, scarcely viewed. An impressive documentation of the Tokyo Taisho Expo which was held from March 20th to July 31st, 1914 at Ueno Park, reflecting the Japanese nation celebrating its transformation following the forcing open of Japan to European trade with the Perry Expedition of 1853-1854. Most of the illustrations are of exhibits of the makers of consumer products (such as sake). The first pages show overviews of the fair grounds including the first escalator in Japan and exhibits of the colonised territories of Korea and Taiwan. No record found of library holdings on WorldCat. Item #51233
