No date. 1940s.
Illustrated program for the touring production of the Broadway hit Anna Lucasta which, with an African-American cast, ran for over 950 performances on Broadway between August 1944 and November 1946. The program is 12 x 9 inches and contains 16 (unnumbered) pages plus a laid-in sheet with details and photos of 6 cast members. Light toning to covers; overall very good condition. The Broadway production, written by Philip Yordan, was produced by John Wildberg and directed by Harry Wagstaff Gribble. Cast members in this production include Alvin Childress, Monte Hawley, and Ossie Davis. The last page of the program features 25 snippets under the headline "Raves from the Critics." A most interesting piece of theatre ephemera. Item #51110
