London. The Musical Bouquet. No date. Ca. 1854.
Sheet music 14.25 x 10.25 inches; two sheets (4 pp) including covers. Never bound. General discoloration and time-toning to cover; owner's name in ink at top. Short tear at bottom edge of front cover. Text on the cover states: "The Popular French Air as performed by Jullien's band and by the celebrated Guides' Band with the correct French and English Words." The music's title refers to French (and English) troops engaging Russia in the Crimean War, with battles in the Black Sea and on the Crimean Peninsula. The Russian forces were ultimately defeated. The image on the cover is possibly that of Marshal Jacques Leroy de Saint Arnaud, commander of the French troops in the Crimea. An attractive military cover extolling French/English solidarity, in good-minus condition as a consequence of surface soiling. Item #50952
