Engrs. near the Parellel of 35° North Latitude from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean and two folded charts titled Geological SectioN...from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean; voluminous in-text illustrations. There is occasional light foxing and staining to the color plates, for the most part affecting the margins only; a couple of plates with overall light toning, but most are clean and bright. Overall contents in good to very good condition. Cover and spine damage noted. Volume tracks "Route near the thirty-fifth parallel, under the command of Lieut. A. W. Whipple, Topographical Engineers, in 1853 and 1854." Sixteen chapters that document the trek from Fort Smith, Arkansas to Los Angeles and San Pedro in California.
