Washington, D.C. Aeronautical Chart Service, U.S. Air Force. May 1947, updated to May 1951.
5th Edition. Color map, sheet size 22 x 29 inches folding to 11 x 7 1/4 inches. Very good condition, some light toning at edges and a few soft creases. This is a detailed chart for aircraft navigation published by the U.S. Air Force in the Cold War years of the early 1950s. This map covers the quadrant from longitude 66 to 72 degrees east, and from latitude 28 to 32 north. The map has a legend and index on the reverse side, which shows the chart numbers of different areas of the globe and describes the symbols used on the maps. These symbols include land and sea plane facilities, Prohibited Areas, Danger and Caution Areas, radio facilities, geographical and 'cultural' features (including railroads, bridges, cities etc). A fascinating aviation map, recording a wide range of information important to the pilot, including elevation of the land formations and rivers. Item #50903
