NY. Judge Publishing Company. 05-11- 1889.
Vol. LXVIII No. 1756. Complete May 11, 1889 issue of the magazine with Supplement, illustrated throughout in black and white, pp.-252, 16 1/4 x 11 inches, pictorial outer wrappers. Outer pictorial wrappers (with image of the Judge Building) are very worn, with large section of front cover paper loss, tears. Tear to right centre of magazine affecting the margin throughout, with several pages with long repaired tears. Light staining to right margin of front page, magazine has been sewn and then stapled at left edge and folded in half horizontally with some resultant creasing. Despite faults, the item is still in overall good condition. A interesting issue of the uncommon Frank Leslie's newspaper, owing to both its subject matter - the celebration in New York of the inauguration of George Washington - and to the fact that this was the first issue published under the ownership of the Judge Publishing Company. The magazine and Supplement include many single and double page illustrations of the 3 days festivities; one double page shows seven New York buildings with "Some typical Decorations of New York Business Houses during Centennial Week" including James McCreery & Co. Dry Goods and London Toilet Bazar 41 Union Square. Item #50860
