Washington, D.C. War Department, Corps of Engineers. 1916. 64th Congress, 1st Session. document No. 1055.
41 large color plat maps, black and white street map, 24 x 32 inches, card wrappers with cloth spine (softbound). The atlas of maps has been folded vertically in two and that crease has cracked resulting in a long separation in the front cover crease; the back cover (which was exposed when folded) is in poor condition with paper loss along the central area and extensive taping. There is occasional soiling to the sheets, and light wear to the corners of the sheets in the margins only. Sheets 36 to 41 all have a long (19 inch) slanting vertical tear across the map. The remainder of the maps are very clean with no tears. Cover title is "Title of the United States Lands in the District of Columbia. Letter from the Secretary of War Transmitting Final Report of the Commission to Investigate the Title of the United States to Lands in the District of Columbia, Created By the Act Approved May 30, 1908 (35 Stat. L., 543). Extraordinarily interesting documentation of central Washington DC, showing D.C. Dedicated Alleys and Streets, D.C. Purchased and Condemned Alleys and Streets and D.C. Lots, along with U.S. Alleys, Reservations, Streets and Lots. Item #50215
