TWO SEPARATE SHEETS each with two handcolored woodcuts (each approximately 5 x 3 inches), on sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches with text on recto and verso. A few light spots, sheets have been adhered to a card backing with a line of adhesive vertically (not affecting the image sides), light crease to cucumber sheet, very handsome, displayable condition. Handsome illustrations from an antique herbal showing flowers, leaves, roots. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Page 140 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Item #50173
