Atlas, decorative paper-covered boards, 10 1/2 x 7 inches, 136pp, featuring single and double-page color maps of the states and territories and single page color maps of the rest of the world: Canada, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa etc. Covers are bumped and abraded; fabric covering to spine twisted and puckered; chips to some early pages; covers loosely attached; contents tightly bound (staples) and in good condition. The Atlas was produced by Rand McNally for the Chicago Weekly News and was priced at $2.00. The title page boasts of "very full descriptive matter" accompanying each map. Washington, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona are all described as Territories. There are also color charts and diagrams relating to matters of civic and commercial interest. Light pencil notations to two or three pages. The Chicago Weekly News proudly touts itself as "the cheapest weekly in America. One dollar a year, postage included." Overall, an interesting publication with attractive color maps (states and territories chiefly) in single or double-page format; contents in good condition. Item #49735
